THE man who will take the reigns as Principal at Limavady Grammar School when Doctor Sam McGuinness calls time on his career, has told the Northern Constitution that he can't wait go get settled into life in Limavady.
Mr. Robert Wilson, currently a Vice-principal at Cambridge House Grammar School in Ballymena, will step into the breach in January, after 'the Doc's' decade at the helm of the Ballyquin Road secondary school, and the Geography teacher plans on continuing the high standards that were a mark of his predecessors time in charge.
“ I'm very much looking forward to working beside a dedicated board of governors, a diligent and hardworking staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic pupils," Mr. Wilson said.
“It is a privilege and an honour to be appointed to succeed Dr. McGuinness, who has provided visionary and dedicated leadership at Limavady Grammar School, an institution that enjoys an excellent reputation in the community which it serves, and whose academic and extra curricular programmes are acknowledged not only in Northern Ireland, but also nationally and internationally."
Mr. Wilson has over 25 years teaching experience, including a stint as a senior teacher and head of geography of Coleraine High School, and as a holder of a Duke of Edinburgh's Gold award, will undoubtedly keep a keen eye on the pupils who embark on that particular scheme.
One major facet of his new role will be settling into the Roe Valley Learning Community, formerly the Limavady Learning Partnership, and Mr. Wilson spoke highly of the scheme.
“ It will be great to get to know and work with all the members of the learning community, it is a fantastic programme, and one that has certainly proven itself to be of great benefit to all involved."
