LIMAVADY District LOL No.6 held a most successful concert and Drumhead Service in the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre last week.
The event took place on Friday November 18 which coincided with the date 100 years ago that Battle of the Somme ended.
Proceedings commenced with a welcome to the capacity crowd from District Master Wor Bro Mark Smyth before Bro George Dallas compered the rest of the evening.
An evening of music, drama and poetry was then delivered by a number of local schoolchildren and the Trench Memorial Flute Band played a number of marches suitable for the occasion.
A special power-point presentation was then shown displaying the names of all the local men who left Limavady and District in 1916, never to see the Roe Valley again.
Following the presentation, representatives from the various bands within the Limavady District then provided a drum head altar. A member of Limavady WLOL then presented a Roll of Honour bearing the names of those who paid the supreme sacrifice on the Battlefields of the Somme.
