New campaign promotes smarter shopping thumbnailCauseway Coast & Glens Borough Council staff will be at Hunterís Bakery, Limavady on Friday December 2 to provide tips on how to keep your bread fresher for longer to prevent waste.

CAUSEWAY Coast and Glens Borough Council has launched a new campaign to encourage us all to think, shop and eat smarter.
Food Smart, a partnership project with Love Food Hate Waste, aims to help people save money whilst benefiting the environment too.
Families in Northern Ireland spend on average £64 every week on food - the highest spend of any region in the UK, making it an expensive part of our weekly budget. But on top of this, the average family throws out up to £60 of perfectly good food every month, so it makes sense for us all to make the most of the food we buy.
The Food Smart campaign is full of tips to help us re-connect and value our food.
So with this in mind - let's use our loaf, as more than 24 million slices of bread are thrown away every day in the UK.
