Tree of Remembrance returns to Limavady
Thursday, 8 December 2016
LIMAVADY Rotary Club are reminding residents in the Roe Valley that the annual Tree of Remembrance will be operational in Limavady this week.
Limavady Rotary Club President, Mary McCloskey stated: "Many people see the yellow ribbons and our hut beside the Council tree as the first sign of Christmas.
“We will have school choirs singing most days and will be collecting in Tesco in front of a mini tree for a week from Thursday December 8. We then move to the tree beside the Roe Valley Arts Centre until Christmas Eve, every day from 10.00am to 5.30pm. You don't have to make a donation but anything you give is given directly to our two very well deserving charities."
She continued: "An inter-denominational church service, led by our very own Cannon Sam McVeigh, will take place on Friday December 9 at 5.15pm outside the Arts Centre.
“The tree and the yellow ribbon gives the people of the Roe Valley an opportunity to reflect and also to remember a loved one who is no longer with them. We are very proud, not only of the money raised but also of the fact that we are now an integral part of the Limavady Christmas experience.
