ONE of Limavady's longest established family businesses will come to an end in the New Year as Ian Hunter of Norman & Hunter and Son has announced that he is to retire.
Mr Hunter made the announcement this week that the business will cease trading on Saturday January 14.
For 120 years, a butcher shop has been trading on the site of 53 Main Street, Limavady where Norman Hunter & Son Butchery and Delicatessen now stands.
Norman Hunter took over the business back in 1924 and transformed the town centre premises into an award-winning butchery, creating one of the best butcher shops in the county.
Some 24 years ago, Norman's son Ian, took over the business which continued to grow in its success and popularity.
Since then, Norman Hunter & Son has become a multi-award winning business and has won the Northern Ireland Butcher of the Year award many times.
