Keady Quarry work under the spotlight
Thursday, 9 February 2017
A NEW lobby group has been set up in Limavady over concerns regarding work being carried out at Keady Hill Quarry.
The Keady Residents Association (KRA) was formed on Thursday night (February 2) following a public meeting. The large crowd of local residents gathered together at Limavady Bowling Club to discuss their concerns over the work currently being undertaken by Ardstraw Quarries Ltd at the local quarry.
Speaking to the Northern Constitution, spokesperson for the KRA, William Stewart said: "We firmly believe that work being carried out on the Keady Hill quarry is posing a serious risk to public health and safety."
Mr Stewart explained why he decided to lobby against work at the quarry: "Back in early spring, I heard a loud explosion, my whole house shook, I thought a bomb went off," he said.
