Thursday, 2 March 2017
FROM 'Emmerdale' to 'The Fall' and Bette Midler to the 'Sweetheart of Swing,' The Northern Constitution got a chance this week to catch up with Limavady actress, Orla Mullan as she prepares to take to the stage once again.
Orla, 32, a past pupil of Termoncanice PS, Limavady and Loreto Grammar school, Coleraine, has been carving out a career for herself as a successful actress. After spending 10 years living and working in London, Orla is back home in Northern Ireland and enjoying all the opportunities that are now available for her here.
To date, Orla has a very impressive resume. After graduating from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) which was co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney, her first 'big break' came when she was cast in the roll of 'Mrs Potts,' in the UK tour off Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast'.
“That was an amazing experience," said Orla. "The tour was huge and that was my first professional experience of musical theatre."
She has had roles in 'Emmerdale' and 'The Fall' which Orla says is her "biggest TV role to date." She has also featured in the Irish film 'Bad Year for the Cut' which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival at the end of January.
Orla will also feature in the new BBC TV drama, 'Paula' which is written and produced by Irish playwright/filmmaker Conor McPherson and will air on our screens next year.
