Limavady win battle of the St Mary’s thumbnailThe celebrations get underway for team captain Sean Butcher and his St Mary's Limavady squad who beat St. Mary’s Clady in the Ulster Final to lift the O'Doherty Cup at Owenbeg this week.

St. Mary's Limavady............1-8 St. Mary's Clady.............0-7

ST Mary's Limavady retained the O'Doherty Cup and as Ulster champions, go through to the All Ireland semi final. In difficult conditions at Owenbeg, the Limavady side built a match winning 1-6 to 0-3 interval lead but they had to defend strongly in the second half.
The Clady boys made a brave bid to close the gap but they wasted a few decent chances, however a lot of credit must go to the excellent Limavady defence who kept a relatively safe distance in front. Despite the wind and cold, both teams played some good football but in the end, it was the accuracy of Limavady defender Sean Butcher from placed balls that went a long way to the retention of the trophy. Slaughtneil and Derry star Chrissy McKaigue showed his coaching ability by steering the St. Mary's through some very difficult games.
