Fears over hospitalís future

FEARS have been raised over the future of Coleraine's Causeway Hospital amid plans to centralise pathology laboratory services.
Causeway Coast and Glens Councillor William McCandless has revealed how a consultation process has been taking place on the merits of centralising services in Belfast and possibly at another location.
He asked: "Could one of the outcomes be that we would lose the laboratory service we have at the Causeway and would that affect our hospital's future?
“Given the rural nature of our borough, I am concerned that sending blood samples to another location could lead to longer waiting times for patients' results, many of which may be critically time dependent.
