‘We want to champion Limavady’!

"WE want to champion Limavady!" That is the message coming from the new Limavady Town Team which was officially launched last week.
Reverend Paul Gallucci, Methodist Superintendent in Limavady, spearheaded the new group and is also its first chairperson.
“The incentive of this group was firstly to promote business and tourism throughout the town in a way that would benefit the whole of Limavady including the rural areas," said Rev Gallucci who joined the Methodist Church in Limavady almost two years ago.
“During my ministry in Limavady, local people have been sharing their views and frustrations with me about the town. The same question kept recurring in our conversations, 'How can we maximise the potential of Limavady?' I decided that something needed to be done so I began by contacting local churches, retail and hospitality businesses, farmers and those in the local voluntary sector.
“Everyone shared the same view, we all wanted to make changes for the better in Limavady."
Rev Gallucci then amalgamated a group of stakeholders. "With their skills and expertise, we will come up with new ideas and implement an action plan that will deliver change for Limavady," he said.
Emphasising that this group is still in it infancy, Rev Gallucci has been using the local Methodist Church as a base for meetings.
“We want to highlight that this is not a church group," said Rev Gallucci. "This is a cross community organisation representing the entire community. We have established a strategic plan which is only an initial plan and not an exclusive one."
