‘Absolutely delighted’ thumbnailThe staff and pupils at Rossmar School celebrate as large machinery moves onto the school grounds and building work begins on the new school. Included is Principal Mr Brian McLaughlin, Vice Principal Mr Corrienne Archibald and class teacher, Mrs Amy Hamil

PRINCIPAL of Rossmar School, Brian McLaughlin has said he is, "absolutely delighted," that Phase 1 of the new school development has begun. Mr McLaughlin, who has campaigned hard for a new school building over the years, said: "It is fantastic to see the diggers on site and work commence on Phase 1 of the development. This is a massive celebration for our entire school community.
“This new building will totally transform our pupils' education. They will no longer be educated in an old dilapidated building, but in a new state of the art premises, which will cater to all their learning needs."
A total of £8.29m funding was awarded to the co-educational special school which caters for 112 children with a wide range of learning difficulties, both moderate and severe from the ages of 3-19 years.
The Department of Education issued approval to proceed to tender for the main construction at the school on February 28 this year.
