AS the Stormont executive hits a deadlock, local Assembly members have expressed their dismay and frustration at the lack of agreement to form a government. Talks aimed at forming a new power-sharing executive broke down as no deal was done by the deadline of 4pm on Monday (March 27). The Secretary of State James Brokenshire is now allowing the parties more time to reach an agreement.
Speaking from Stormont, East Derry SDLP MLA John Dallat spoke of his profound disappointment at the collapse of the talks.
Mr Dallat has urged all parties to redouble their efforts to ensure that Northern Ireland is not plunged back into a past which he said has "failed everyone and favoured no one."
