THE Roe Valley's new suicide awareness charity, Limavady's Initiative for the Prevention of Suicide (LIPS), has received monumental support from local organisations and donors.
Its public outreach began with a fund-raising night at Frank Owens' Bar where the charity raised an amazing 2,741 and as a result, there have been two successful events which have both showcased and raised funds for LIPS.
The charity's first 'Walk for Life' and Fun Day was held on Saturday June 24 and provided an ideal opportunity for Angela Canning to present the charity with a cheque for 3,438.
Angela shaved her head last October for suicide awareness. She had decided to wait until she found the right charity to donate her money to and once she heard of LIPS, she knew it was her charity of choice.
Moving On Up, a small business in Limavady for young people and adults with a learning disability, hosted their annual fashion show in May of this year and this also acted as the official launch of LIPS.
