STAFF and pupils of St Finlough's Primary School, Sistrakeel said goodbye to their much-loved principal, Mrs O'Neill at the end of term. Mrs O'Neill had been principal for 14 years and during that time, had shown amazing dedication and commitment to the school. At a special assembly, the pupils prayed for Mrs O'Neill, recited poems and talked about their favourite memories of her. The children also sang songs and some played musical instruments. Monsignor McCanny praised her for all her hard work, saying: "A school is only as good as its principal."
Conall Doherty, parent and chairperson of the Board of Governors, thanked her for the long hours that she has spent over the years as principal of the school. He said that since joining the school in September 2003, the numbers have more than doubled and pointed out that the school is almost at full capacity.
