Proud Peter is ‘pleased as punch’ thumbnailLimavady runner Peter Cromie who came second in the Grand 2 Grand Ultra last month.

RUNNING 170 miles in a week was a huge task for Limavady man Peter Cromie, who put himself amongst the world's best ultra-runners with an epic performance and podium place at the famous Grand 2 Grand (G2G) six-stage Ultra, in the USA last month. A member of Springwell Running Club, Peter began the Ultra on September 23 at the rim of the Grand Canyon, Arizona, at an eye watering altitude of 5344 feet.
Carrying his life in a rucksack for seven days, he would never have anticipated finishing second in the legendary American race, even though he secretly believed he could do well.
Peter told The Northern Constitution: "I'm as pleased as punch to be honest. I am really proud to come second in such an amazing race. In all honesty, I think it hasn't properly sank in. It really couldn't have went any better."
With the organisers providing only tent and water, participants had to carry all the equipment, clothing and food they needed to be self sufficient for the seven days, meaning having to deal with heavy backpacks as well as the environmental conditions.
