A Limavady woman who wrote her first novella at 88 years of age, is currently completing her third which she hopes to publish for her 90th birthday next year.

Marie Boyle, who had worked for many years as an infant teacher at Drumrammer Primary School, always enjoyed telling a story.

Speaking to The Northern Constitution this week, Marie said: “As a child, I was always writing stories and I used to win prizes for them. When I became an infant teacher, I was always making up stories for the children so story telling is something that I have been doing for many years.”

Marie’s love of writing took a back seat during her married life while she worked and raised her family: “Life got in the way really,” she said: “Working at Drumrammer and being a wife and mother were the priority at the time so my writing fell by the wayside.”

Marie’s first novella entitled ‘Assareema’ was self-published on Amazon when she was 88 years old, while her second, ‘A Tangled Web’ was published this year.
