AFTER just six months of training, Limavady's Andy Chapman has came second at the Irish National Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Letterkenny. Andy, who trains with Team Evolve MMA in Londonderry and at this own gym CrossFit Limavady, said: "I am sort of happy but disappointed at the same time."
Andy won two matches earlier on in the competition, both via submission, with his favourite technique the cross collar choke.
In the final, he was very unlucky not to win after catching his opponent in a submission with another very tight choke. His more experienced opponent, however, was able to escape and make a comeback to win the match on points.
Andy is a well known local sports person, first competing in rugby and then moving onto other sports including CrossFit and powerlifting where he became a world champion.
