No action after motorcross death

Thursday, 23 November 2017

CAUSEWAY Coast and Glens Borough Council will take no formal action against the operator of a motorcross track which was the scene of a fatal accident last year. 13-year-old Daniel Sheridan, from Tallaght in Dublin, died following a motorbike crash at the Five5 Motosport Centre in Magilligan on August 25.
In the wake of the accident, officers from the council's Environmental Health Department launched an investigation.
And earlier this month, elected members were told a report has now been handed to the senior Coroner. During a closed doors meeting of the Environment Committee on November 7, members also agreed a recommendation that "Council consider not pursuing formal proceedings against the proprietor."
