THREE students from Limavady have been awarded a JP McManus All Ireland Scholarship towards their third level education. The local winners included past Limavady Grammar School pupils Simon Whyte and Andrew Tutty who are attending University of Bristol and Queen's University respectively, and Ashleigh Newtown, a former student at the North West Regional College, who is furthering her studies in Cardiff.
Simon commented: "It's brilliant, especially living in a very expensive city; it's very helpful to have the money to... survive!"
He added: "I'm going to work on my portfolio and degree. After college, I'd like to get into software development."
The awards ceremony took place at the University of Limerick where Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell-O'Connor, TD, presented the awards. Special guest at this year's awards ceremony was Irish President, Michael D. Higgins.
