Home for Christmas! thumbnailBack home. Michael and Bridgeen Craig are delighted with their house after months of hard work following the Eglinton floods.

CHRISTMAS has certainly come early this year for one Eglinton family who wish to thank the entire community for helping them return to their home in time for the festive season.
More than 100 families in the Eglinton area were forced out of their homes as torrential downpours flooded the entire village last August.
It is estimated that 63 percent of the average August rainfall fell within just nine hours in the Roe Valley and surrounding area on Tuesday August 22, causing millions of pounds worth of damage to homes and businesses.
Now, after 18 long weeks out of the house in St Canice's Park, Michael and Bridgeen Craig are delighted to have returned in time to put up a tree and enjoy Christmas Day dinner in the family home.
During the summer, an unprecedented change in weather caused several feet of rain to fall and completely wash through houses in Eglinton, leaving the Craig family having to gut out Michael's family home.
