TWO women who reside in Limavady have appeared in court charged with drug offences after being stopped in Derry with 200,000 worth of drugs in their vehicle. Piper McClenaghan, 36, of Roe Mill Gardens in Limavady, and Sonya McDaid, 45, of the same address but with another of Dungiven Road in Derry, have been charged with possession of 75,000 worth of Class A drug Cocaine, possession with intent to supply the same drug, and being concerned in the supply of Cocaine on January 16.
They are further charged with possession of 15,000 worth of Cocaine, possession with intent to supply the same drug, possession of Class A drug Heroin worth 2,000, intent to supply the same drug, possession and intent to supply 3,500 worth of Cannabis, and possession with intent to supply 120,000 worth of Amphetamines.
The first set of charges relate to drugs found in a vehicle on January 16, while the second set of charges relate to those found during follow-up searches of the property in Roe Mill Gardens where both defendants reside.
A bail application was only mounted on behalf of McClenaghan at court on Thursday January 18.
Outlining the case, a police officer said a Honda Civic driven by McDaid was stopped in the vicinity of Clooney Road heading towards the Caw Roundabout. McDaid was identified along with front seat passenger McClenaghan.
A search was carried out, uncovering five drugs packages inside a shoe box in the front passenger's footwell.
