Shackleton shortlisted! thumbnailThe Shackleton site, owned by MJM Group, will compete to become part of Heathrow Airport’s expansion plans.

SHACKLETON Barracks has been shortlisted to become one of four potential support sites in the £16bn expansion of Heathrow Airport. Last year, companies across the UK were invited to pitch for the chance to host one of four 'Logistics Hubs' which will see work linked to the third runway plan carried out off-site. Now, 65 sites have been selected from an initial 121 applications in November 2017.
On Friday February 9, Heathrow Airport officially launched a nation-wide tour of the 65 shortlisted sites still in the running to be the off-site construction centres for the airport expansion.
Shackleton's owners MJM Group have confirmed to The Northern Constitution that the site has now made it through to the next phase of the process.
Naoimh McConville from the MJM Group said: "We are delighted to be the only private sector bid in Northern Ireland longlisted in the Heathrow Logistics Hubs process with our site at the former Shackleton Barracks, Ballykelly.
