POLITICIANS have praised the announcement that planned upgrades to the A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe road have reached the tendering process, with construction to start in the spring.
Despite the current political impasse at Stormont plans for the new bypass are moving along the Department of Infrastructure have confirmed.
The road will be a massive boost for the North West and to the local economy speeding up commutes from Londonderry to Belfast.
New upgrades will include a bypass at Dungiven and will alleviate the towns congestion and much maligned pollution problem.
Contruction of the upgrades will take place over a period of four years costing between 390 - 420M.
