Five new champions for Limavady Titans
Thursday, 15 March 2018
MEMBERS of Limavady Titans have just returned from the world's largest kickboxing tournament, the Irish Open, with their biggest ever medal haul.
Limavady Titans had 18 fighters taking part in the event, held over four days in the City West Complex in Dublin, with seven adults and 11 children aged between eight to 15 competing.
The event was hampered this year by the amount of heavy snow which stopped some fighters from attending. Some parts of Dublin had as much as 16 inches of snow which meant the closure of some roads, ferry services and the cancellation of flights in and out of Dublin Airport.
This did not stop the Titans from getting to the event, however, as members travelled through snow, hail and blizzard like conditions, arriving on Thursday night where they went straight into weight control which went well for all the club's fighters.
The Titans have been attending this event for quite a few years and have had some degree of luck.
The senior fighters competed on the first day of the competition with junior members fighting on the Sunday.
