PARENTS of P4 pupils at Termoncanice PS were invited into the school last Wednesday to enjoy a very special sit down meal with their children as they gathered together to celebrate the World Year of the Family.
Staff and pupils have been celebrating the different types of family within the school and the celebrations began earlier this year when all 440 families within the school were invited to decorate a piece of bunting. The project proved to be a huge success and staff were blown away by the enthusiasm shown by both pupils and their parents.
To continue the celebrations during the school year, each year group will invite their mums and dads or two adults into the school for a special sit down meal. Last week, as the P4 classes had just celebrated their First Holy Communion, this was the perfect opportunity to get the family to sit down together and enjoy a very special meal.
Classroom assistants decorated the school canteen beautifully with tables cloths, candles, balloons and the children's artwork, along with the beautifully decorated bunting, while the pupils also got into the spirit of the occasion by making special tables mats for their guests.
As with all extra special occasions, a seating plan had also been created for the pupils and their parents which ensured that they all sat down together to enjoy their tasty roast dinner and dessert.
