Around 150 jobs to be transferred to Ballykelly

Thursday, 15 March 2018

AROUND 150 of Ballykelly's new civil service jobs are transfers from Coleraine. The relocation, revealed in an FOI response from the Department of Finance, has angered MLA Claire Sugden who said the promised de-centralisation of jobs from Belfast now appeared more like a mere "reshuffle" of local posts.

The majority of staff were posted there to compensate for the loss of over 200 DVA posts in 2014.
A department spokesperson has since confirmed their stay in Coleraine was only ever temporary. She added: "Approximately 150 posts will relocate from County Hall to the new DAERA building.
