Data centre for Shackleton? thumbnailMJM Group has launched plans for a data centre in Ballykelly

The owners of Shackleton Barracks have drawn up multi-million pound plans for a data centre at the Ballykelly site.
Newry-based MJM Group, which bought the site in 2016, have begun a pre-planning consultation process which includes a community engagement event in July.
Data centres are facilities that centralizes an organization's IT operations and equipment. Any online service - from online banking to social media requires, banks of servers housed in ultra secure, air conditioned buildings.
It's understood one of the site's main attractions is its proximity to Northern Ireland's transatlantic fibre-optic cable which provides Europe's fastest telecoms link with North America.
