Derry hoping to make it unlucky13 for Kildare

WHEN the 16 teams who had been beaten in the first round of the championship went into the bowl last week, the first team out was Derry.
That ensured home venue and out came Kildare who will travel to Owenbeg on Saturday at 3pm hoping to end the worst losing streak in their history.
When Kildare were beaten by minnows Carlow in the Leinster championship it was the biggest championship shock in years. Carlow won by 2-14 to 1-10 and did not shoot a single wide. Cumbersome Kildare shot a round dozen as they stumbled to an embarrassing defeat. To crown it all it was the twelfth time in a row that they had lost.
They had campaigned in Division One last season and were relegated. They were actually unfortunate, they should have beaten Tyrone and Donegal and were never really blown away by any of the teams in the top division.
