Van knocks 1700 Claudy homes off grid thumbnail

AROUND 1700 homes lost power in Claudy on Wednesday, August 1, after a road traffic collision felled an electricity pole on Main Street.
The power pole along with cables were damaged when a van struck it at around 6pm on Wednesday evening.
No one was hurt during the indcident however the road had to be closed while the electricity pole was repaired.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Police received a report of a road traffic collision at the junction of the Cregg Road and the Glenshane Road at Claudy at around 6pm on Wednesday August 1.
