Five star United thrash Carrick thumbnailCarrick Ranger’s Glenn Hand jumps to block a Paul Owens free kick for Limavady United during the league game on Tuesday night. The Roesiders ran out comfortable 5-1 winners.

LIMAVADY United demolished Carrick Rangers with a five star display at the Showgrounds on Tuesday night.
In a game that threatened to boil over on several occasions, United kept their cool with goals from Michael Doherty, Stephen Lowry, Shane Jennings, Damian McNulty and David Patton.
Darren McNamee scored from the spot for the visitors.
United opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Ciaran Clarke, who gave his marker a torrid time all game, was upended in the box and 'keeper Doherty made no mistake firing past his opposite number.
Seven minutes later that lead was doubled when Patton did well to hold the ball up before teeing up Lowry who had the simple task of rolling the ball home.
Carrick thought they had pulled a goal back in the 38th minute but Barry Bloomers effort was rightly ruled out for offside.
Shortly before the interval the Roesiders extended their lead when Jennings used his pace and power to shrug off his marker before expertly picking out the far corner.
Minutes after half-time McNulty grabbed the home side's fourth goal when he headed home beyond a static defence from Lowry's free-kick.
In the 50th minute Rangers did pull a goal back. Declan McKeever was adjudged to have fouled Glenn Hand and McNamee powered home the spot kick.
Limavady grabbed a fifth in the final minute of the game when the impressive Patton fired home after unselfish work from Clarke.
Limavady United: Doherty, McNutt, McKeever, McNulty, Rodden (McConaghie), Patrick, Owens, Lowry, Jennings (Walsh), Patton,
Clarke. Subs: O'Loughlin, McGraw.
