Boyd and Nicholl hit top form at Roe Park thumbnailDerek Nicholl, winner of Saturday’s Club Stableford at Roe Park.

THE mild dry start to the winter continued last week as scores of golfers turned out at Roe Park to make the most of the excellent course conditions.
With the leaves falling, the winds howling and the temperature dipping it takes a lot more to deter the horde of keen members of Roe Park from getting their golfing fix as The Autumn Pairs League reached the halfway point.
Saturday saw a Club Stableford played in these very conditions with the man for all seasons - Derek Nicholl - turning on the style for victory.
He scored a simply unbeatable 39 points for the win which included a birdie at the tough eigth hole and eight pars.
Ryan Scott and Dr. Gerry Byrne both scored 38 points with Ryan claiming the runner-up spot thanks to the countback rule.
Thursday saw a Club Stableford played in somewhat stormier conditions.
This, however, failed to deter eventual winner Stephen Boyd who scored a superb 39 points which included three birdies and seven pars.
