LIMAVADY United's impressive start to the season hasn't gone unnoticed - with four members of Paul Owens's team called into the Northern Ireland squad for this week's Regions Cup tournament in Moldova. Goalkeeper Paul Wells, defenders Hugh Carlin and Bryan McClelland and midfielder Gary McFadden are all uncapped at this level but they join a list of over 20 players from the club who have represented their country since 1981.
The Limavady players form just under a quarter of manager Harry McConkey's 18-man squad for the UEFA Regions Cup Intermediate Round qualifiers competition in the eastern European country.
They join a number of other players from the north west, including the Institute duo of Ryan Morrow and Gareth Brown, Newbuildings United striker Steven Wallace and Dergview men Kealan Mulcahy, Richard Lynch and Kyle Friel Curran. The squad began their UEFA Regions Cup campaign against Turkey on Monday, face Switzerland on Wednesday and complete the week with a game against the hosts on Friday. The group winners will qualify for the finals which will be held next summer.
