A HEALTHY crowd attended Aghadowey Oval on Boxing Day and enjoyed some terrific racing and a memorable Caravan Destruction Derby.
Portadown's John Stewart took the honours in the Reliant Robins Irish Championship, with other feature race wins at the Autoworx of Ballymoney sponsored meeting falling to Ben McCully (Stock Rods), Jordan Rochford (Lightning Rods), Gareth Robinson (Thunder Rods) and Daniel Stewart (Ninja Karts). Former National Bangers star Brian Johnston took victory in the entertaining Caravan Derby.
Reliant Robins
The Reliant Robins Irish Championship started in dramatic fashion when Haley Bevan went for a big roll before they had even reached the green flag!
Haley is made of stern stuff and duly took her place for the full restart.
From pole position John Stewart stamped his authority on the event, charging clear and on to his second Irish title.
Ian Bolton and Steven Bolton filled the podium after an entertaining event.
Later in the day Ian Bolton took the honours in the Irish Revenge race ahead of Stewart, as Steven Bolton attempted all he could to demolish his car, losing the roof and then finishing off with a rollover.
Stock Rods
A very healthy field of sixteen Stock Rods arrived to do battle, with Jonny Gillespie setting the pace for much of the distance in heat one.
