Derry relegated despite win thumbnailDerry players celebrate their win over Fermanagh - but their joy was short lived as they were relegated to Division Three minutes later.

DESPITE snatching a late late winner against Fermanagh Derry were still relegated to Division Three along with the Ernemen in Brewster Park last Sunday afternoon.
Both these sides went into this last chance saloon game knowing that a win was essential, Derry just sneaked their end of the bargain but Down ruined the script with a late equaliser of their own in Cork to snatch a point that kept them in Division Two on score difference condemning the Oak Lea men to the dreaded drop.
Carlus McWilliams' point with the last kick of the game gave Derry a 2-8 to 0-13 victory but it proved to be little more than a consolation win as both themselves and Fermanagh were relegated from Division Two.
The home side will really be kicking themselves as they looked likely winners and earn safety in Division Two as they carved out a 0-12 to 1-5 lead midway through the second half.
However, a second goal from Conor McAtamney in the sixty sixth minute hauled Derry back from the brink as they outscored the home side by 1-3 to 0-1 in the closing stages.
Derry got off to the perfect start with a Conor McAtamney goal from their first attack inside just fifteen seconds as he took a pass from Niall Loughlin before hitting the Fermanagh net.
They were still leading 1-2 to 0-2 after fifteen minutes as Enda Lynn and Niall Loughlin added points. However, the ever accurate Sean Quigley nailed 0-8 from placed balls throughout the game, five in the first half to help Fermanagh to a 0-7 to 1-3 half-time lead.
