Springwell runners shine at London Marathon thumbnail

LAST Sunday saw the 37th running of the London Marathon with over 40,000 runners taking to the streets of our capital city London for one of the world's Major Marathons.
The weather conditions were perfect for distance running and Springwell Running Club had thirteen members on the start line for this most prestigious of marathons.
Gaining entry to the London Marathon is almost as difficult as difficult as actually running the race, so once entries had been confirmed at the end of 2016 the lucky entrants spent many hours putting in the miles to ensure they made the most of their London experience.
The hard work certainly paid off with a number of personal bests' recorded.
Prior to the main event in London the British Athletics Road Championships were staged with three of Springwell's junior athletes representing Northern Ireland in their respective age groups. In the Under 17 girls' race Niamh Carr was 52nd in 18.23; Andrew Gordon was 77th in the Under 15 boys' race with 16.42 and Matthew Beveridge finishing in a time of 17.40.
