Unitedís league campaign gets off to winning start thumbnail

UNITED got their league campaign off to a winning start as they overcame the challenge of the Welders last weekend. Despite losing last season's top goal scorer, Robbie Hume, just two days before the game, the Roe men showed they have players ready to fill his boots.
Shane Jennings bagged a brace on his debut with sub Jordan Thompson adding a second half goal which ensured the points stayed on the Rathmore Road. Craig Harris found the net for the visitors.
Welders did have the first opportunity of the game in the 4th minute, Davy Rainey denied by an excellent save from Paul Wells.
In the 10th minute, United took the lead - Glenn Law's effort was blocked, however the ball broke to Jennings whose quick turn and shot left Jason Craughwell flat footed in the away goal.
