Slick Slaughtneil make it four county titles in a row thumbnailSlaughtneil make it four as Ballinascreen fall by the way side.

Slaughtneil..........4-12 Ballinascreen............1-11

SLAUGHTNEIL picked up the John McLaughlin Cup for a fourth successive year to equal the Bellaghy record 1958 to 1961 and they look like a team not stopping there. Their three previous wins came at the expense of Ballinderry, Coleraine and The Loup. This was by far the most impressive display of the four against a Ballinascreen team that had beaten the second favourites Coleraine by six points in the quarter final.
Such is the fluency of this Slaughteil team that they looked at times as if they had two extra men on the field.
In front of just over four thousand in perfect conditions at Celtic Park the holders turned on the style with Shane McGuigan in brilliant form. They were by no means flattered by their ten point winning margin.
Ballinascreen set up defensively but Mickey Moran's men must have read the script.
They used the wings as 'Screen tied up the middle. With their defenders pushing forward on the flanks Slaughtneil always had players available and the end result was that half backs Chrissy McKaigue and Keelan Feeny getting among the goals.
For Slaughtneil it is all about the team, there are no players taking pot shots or going for individual glory. Their link play was fascinating at times as they weaved their way through the reinforced Ballinascreen defence to pick off some brilliant scores.
