United bag a point against Portadown thumbnailLimavady Unitedís Hugh Carlin and Andy Devlin start the celebrations after the first goal against Portadown on Saturday.

Limavady United...........1 Portadown................1

IT wasn't a defeat but it probably felt like one to Paul Owens after his side were pegged back in the 94th minute in a game which saw one of their best performances of the season. United have never beaten Portadown at home in eight attempts, but will surely never have a better chance, as they were more than a match for their expensively assembled opponents.
In front of the biggest crowd of the season, United knew that a seventh consecutive defeat would not only be an unwanted modern club record, but would drag them deeper into a relegation battle. A win would keep alive the slimmest of hopes of an unlikely top six placing.
United had a great chance to take an early lead after only three minutes as Hume stole the ball from a defender and took the ball around McCaughey but his effort crashed off the top of the post.
The next 20 minutes were fairly even but United looked significantly more solid as a team than they have in recent weeks, with Canning in particular proving impassable at right back.
