ATHLETES from CrossFit Limavady will this week begin a five week competition that aims to find the fittest man and woman on earth.
The 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games will see hundreds of thousands of people across the world take each other on in a series of workouts designed to test all components of fitness.
The Open is the first stage of the CrossFit Games season and the largest community event of the year. This will be CrossFit Limavady's third year in the competition.
CrossFit Limavady co-owner Andy Chapman said: "Anyone aged 14 or older can compete. Workouts are released on Thursdays at 5pm (US time) and athletes have four days to complete the workout for the week and submit their score."
The Open offers two versions of each workout, scaled and Rx'd. "The scaled option makes the event all-inclusive," said Andy. "Anyone can do it. All athletes can compare their results to others worldwide, regionally, by age or within their own gyms."
At the end of five weeks, the fittest move on to the next stages of competition: the Regionals and the Online Qualifier.
