Limavady rule Academy thumbnailLimavady 1st XV player Tom McClelland carrying the ball against Academy on Saturday.

SATURDAY saw the return to league action for Limavady as they entertained Academy.
The game was played in pleasant conditions with a slightly earlier kick-off time of 12.30pm because of the International between Ireland and Scotland.
Academy were the quickest off the mark and by the 20th minute, led 12-3, having scored two tries. Limavady's only response was a penalty converted by Peter Wilson.
After this, Limavady came more into the game and started to play some entertaining rugby. When they moved the ball through the hands, they stretched Academy's defence and this resulted in two tries scored.
Firstly, Stewart Roddy was on hand to take the scoring pass as he touched down near the posts, and Peter converted.
Just before half-time, Tom McClelland scored the try of the match. Academy kicked downfield to clear their lines. Graham McAleese fielded the clearance and counter attacked. The ball was transferred between forwards and backs before Tom set off to get the touch down in the corner. Half-time: Limavady 15-12 Academy.
