United started cautiously at a ground where they have not had many good results. After three minutes, clever interplay from a short corner concluded with McNeill putting in a weak shot which did not exert Wells. United had the ball in the net two minutes later when McCready's deft touch found Hume, who thought he had scored with a drive into the bottom corner, only to be ruled offside.
